Colour Palettes & Themes
There are always colour palette staples for spring and summer like pastels and bold pops of colour but I have a couple of new options we are seeing a lot of this year.
Up first is peachy. This goes with the more traditional themes of pastels but focusses on the peachy tones with hints of lavender, sage and buttery yellow. This gives the soft, airy and feminine vibe perfect for garden parties, baby showers or bridal brunches. For this theme mis-matched coloured glassware would be perfect and is so popular in events at the moment. Pair this with vases of beautiful pastel florals and some balloons and you have gorgeous minimalistic décor.
Next up we have Barbiecore meets Y2K. As you can imagine this is pink pink pink! But to mix it up a little you can add some pops of lilac, white and metallics like silver. Now I know a Barbie theme can sound tacky or childish but it doesn't have to be! (P.S. Pink is back!) If you are hosting a kids party you can stick with the more traditional Barbie theme and go for a bold balloon display, neon signs, silver foil balloons and mirrored backdrops. If you are looking for a more elegant vibe you can focus on floral displays as centrepieces, pink fringe garlands or baby pink backdrops with hints of hot pink, white and lilac. With the flexibility of this theme it would be perfect for any type of event this summer.
With everyone watching Yellowstone and Coachella just gone, cowboy / desert themes are in! This doesn't just have to be boring beige. You can still primarily include the classic colours: sand, terracotta and burnt orange but try adding in some olive green, or pops of blue or peach to keep things interesting. The main attraction with this theme will be textures. Use woven baskets, wood, pampas and succulents as décor. You could even include some more western items if you want to lean into the cowboy theme. This is great for boho weddings or summer garden parties.
Last up we have Coastal, this is the chic beach babe vibe. The colour scheme for this will focus on lots of shades of blue, pale turquoise and sandy beige. Décor for this theme is all natural, use wooden signs, coconuts, shells, woven drapings, linen and pearls. This is a stunning theme that when done right on a hot day can make you feel like you are lying on a beach drinking piña coladas.

Décor details people are loving
Statement seating areas are popping up more this year. Whether it's a velvet couch rental, rattan chairs or a wooden bench, dressing up the seating turns it into beautiful décor and an instagrammable photo op. You can use floral accents, rugs and cushions to turn your seating into your décor.
Trying to incorporate eco-friendly décor is popular this year too. Instead of fresh florals try using dried or faux flowers. Repurpose décor or try shopping at second hand shops instead of buying everything new.
We are seeing a lot of events including interactive personal moments. This could include custom name tags, painted candles or glasses (this can be part of your event activities) and signature drinks with signs tailored to the host or guests.
Finally we have bold backdrops for a statement and photo ops. This could be balloon arches, fringe walls or floral installations. Just remember to work it around the space you are using, don't use a huge display if you are hosting in a small living room and don't use small displays on the floor in a huge room or garden, try to use different heights with your displays. This helps give your event the wow factor!
