Décor Trends For Autumn '23

Décor Trends For Autumn '23

With autumn around the corner it’s time to start looking at trends for this season to make sure you're all hosting gorgeous parties and events!

Some things will never change for autumnal décor such as the beautiful burnt orange colours and the use of pumpkins and assorted squash but we have a few new additions to go over.

So lets dig in...

Colours

This year's party decor palette is filled with rich, warm hues. Rustic terracottas and burnt oranges mirror the falling leaves, while deep burgundies add sophistication and the greens tie in the outdoors. Neutral tones have been very popular this year and create a cozy feel for this season. Sage is another popular colour for décor which can be incorporated.

Whether it's a rustic harvest feast or a chic Halloween soirée, these autumnal tones capture the spirit of autumn.

The key for selecting your autumnal colour palette is to stick to warm earthy tones.

Here are some options for colour themes:

Textures / Natural Elements

Creating professional-looking party decor often hinges on the use of textures to introduce contrast. Autumn is the perfect time to delve into this with all its beautiful natural elements.

Florals, in particular, shine during this season. Think sunflowers, marigolds, and dahlias, each in vibrant shades of red, orange, yellow, and purple. (A personal favourite of mine is black sunflowers.) While any flowers can be used for autumnal decor, harmonising your palette with this season's rich hues can have stunning results.

Foliage stands as an autumnal essential, and the best part is it can be free! Just grab a few fallen leaves or snip a few branches from your trees to incorporate. Unlike the lush greens of spring and summer, autumn calls for the rustic charm of dried foliage and succulents. Consider experimenting with eucalyptus, dried pampas grass, twigs and branches.

In keeping with the warm, earthy ambiance of autumn, wood emerges as an invaluable texture. Wooden signs add rustic elegance, crates bring in dynamic levels, and logs are an extra detail.

And let's not forget the staple of autumn: pumpkins and squash. Whether its used as a centrepiece, an anchor for a balloon arch, or serving as a unique vase for an autumnal bouquet.

Party Themes

3 party themes to consider are spooky season, harvest bonfire and mysticism.

Spooky season is always a fun party theme and has endless options so you don't have to stick to the traditional halloween styles. This is a great theme option whether you're just having a small gathering or hosting an elaborate party.

You can go down the traditional spooky season route (you can keep this simple or go all out!):

Another option is to class it up a little with a simple autumnal colour scheme and small halloween details:

Next is the cozy harvest bonfire theme, perfect for intimate gatherings with a few friends or family. Set up a bonfire or fire pit outdoors, hay bales are ideal for this rustic vibe or you could go for wooden chairs and pillows but make sure you have plenty of blankets! Hot chocolate is a must and you can lay out a s'mores table.

Finally we have the mysticism theme. Psychic readings, tarot cards and crystal balls, all the spooky spirit stuff is perfect for this autumn. Try a mix of purples, burgundies and black for your decor. Coloured pilar candles and skulls add an eerie twist.

Party Activities

There are a lot of options for festive party activities for autumn but the 3 I would suggest for this year are s'mores night, pumpkin carving and psychic readings.

S'mores nights are a guilty pleasure the ultimate autumn activity for a cozy night with friends and family.

Pumpkin carving is a classic halloween activity for kids but its also great fun for adults! A few drinks and introduce some competition and you have another party activity. You can even set out your own pumpkin patch for guest to choose their own.

Psychic Readings tie in perfectly with the mysticism theme adding an intriguing layer to your autumn gatherings that's sure to wow your guests.

With the leaves about to start falling, these festive décor trends promise to transform your gatherings into memorable experiences. The colour palette, with rustic terracottas, burnt oranges, and deep burgundies bringing warmth. Texture plays a pivotal role, from vibrant florals like sunflowers and marigolds to the rustic charm of dried foliage and wooden accents.

For party themes, explore spooky season for endless creativity, harvest bonfire for intimate warmth, or mysticism for an enigmatic twist. Immerse yourselves in the spirit of the season and host the best parties following these tips and trends!
